International conference in Berlin
In his opening speech at the conference "The Interfaces of Science and Policy and the Role of Foundations," Ottmar Edenhofer presented his understanding of the relationship between science and politics for discussion.

At the two-day conference held in Berlin on June 16 and 17, 2014, scientists and directors of research institutions from Germany, Great Britain, New Zealand, the United States and Switzerland examined the successes and advances but also the obstacles and misunderstandings in the relationship between science and policy.
The conference was organized by the Mercator Foundation in collaboration with the University of Bonn, the University of Sussex and the Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society.
