Edenhofer one of the most important economists in Germany

MCC director Ottmar Edenhofer has climbed up the FAZ`s ranking of economic researchers achieving place eleven.

For the ranking of the “most influential economists” the German national daily newspaper “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” (FAZ) analyzed the impact of economic researchers in the subcategories of media, policy and research. Therefore, citations in science, quotes in the most important media were counted and also a survey among policy makers on the state and the federal level such as members of parliaments and high ministry officials taking as a basis.

In the overall result Ottmar Edenhofer, director of the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) and chief economist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), achieved place eleven with 311 out of 1000 possible points. Last year he made it under only slightly different methods in the calculation to place 26. Of special importance for Edenhofer’s influence is his research: Through his many citations he resulted 149 out of 250 possible points in this field. Thus, in this division he achieved place five among the top 100 researchers.
