Niklas Illenseer
Policy Analyst
Niklas Illenseer is a Policy Analyst and part of the MCC Policy Unit with a focus on distributional issues of the socio-ecological transformation, industrial policy and international climate policy.
Prior to joining MCC, Niklas worked as a policy advisor for a member of parliament in the German Bundestag, focusing on climate, energy, and budget policy. Previously, he worked as a student researcher at the NewClimate Institute on data analysis on greenhouse gas emissions and international country comparisons.
Niklas holds Master's degrees in Environmental Policy from Sciences Po Paris and in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE) with a major in Economics and Business and a minor in Urban Studies from the University of Amsterdam. He gained experience in the analysis of international climate policy at the Office of the Secretary General of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) during an internship in Bonn.
