Visiting researcher

 Alkis Blanz

Alkis Blanz is a visiting researcher in the working group Economic Growth and Human Development. In his research, he uses different macroeconomic models to analyse:

  • how climate and fiscal policies can be used to address the macroeconomic and distributive impacts of the current global energy crisis,
  • how the building sector can be decarbonised considering sector-specific barriers to investment into rental housing, and
  • how climate change affects poor households in low- and middle-income countries through food prices.

Before his doctorate, Alkis worked at MCC and University of Potsdam as a research and teaching assistant. Prior work experience also includes the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK). He completed both a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Public Economics at the Freie Universität Berlin.
