Dr. Nicolas Koch

Dr. Nicolas Koch leitet das Policy Evaluation Lab und ist Senior Researcher in der Arbeitsgruppe Nachhaltiges Ressourcenmanagement und globaler Wandel. Er ist ein Umweltökonom mit Interesse an den Bereichen Stadt- und Verkehrsökonomie, Gesundheitsökonomie und angewandte Mikroökonomie. Seine Forschung kombiniert Methoden der Kausalwirkungs- und Wohlfahrtsanalyse mit dem Potential von Big Data, um neue Evidenz zu drängenden umweltpolitischen Herausforderungen zu schaffen. Zu seinen spezifischen Forschungsthemen gehören die Funktionsweise des EU-Emissionshandelssystems, die Kosten der Luftverschmutzung, Straßenbenutzungsgebühren, das Zusammenspiel von Umwelt und Unternehmensproduktivität, sowie die Waldschutzpolitik. Er ist Research Fellow des IZA und RWI.

Nicolas Koch studierte Volkswirtschaftslehre in Marburg, Kiel, Hamburg und Paris. Vor seiner Zeit am MCC arbeitete er vier Jahre lang als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Universität Hamburg, wo er 2013 seine Promotion abschloss. Zudem war er Gastwissenschaftler der University of East Anglia und Gastdozent an der BEM Bordeaux Management School. Er ist Autor und Co-Autor verschiedener Publikationen in wissenschaftlichen Zeitschriften, unter anderem in AEJ: Economic Policy, PNAS, Nature Climate Change, Nature Energy, JAERE, JEEM und JUE.
